When we were first contacted by JUST ONE Tree in the summer of 2020, it’s true to say that at that time, our priorities were not quite aligned with planting trees to help reduce our environmental footprint on the planet. We had just reopened for business after a long period of almost zero work due to the first COVID lockdown and our focus was very much on kickstarting Shoot Blue back into gear.

But (and please, do excuse us for the pun) a seed of an idea was planted when we first spoke with JUST ONE Tree. We realised that sooner or later we would need to step up and do more for protecting the environment in a sustainable way. That moment has now arrived, and we are pleased to announce that as of November 2021, Shoot Blue will be supporting JUST ONE Tree in order to plant over 800 trees per year.

JUST ONE Tree is non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere through global reforestation and make it simple for individuals, schools and businesses to plant trees. JUST ONE Tree fund reforestation organisations around the globe, focusing on areas severely affected by mass deforestation. Their partners work with communities that are committed to restoring their forests. Through training, education and employment they are lifted out of poverty, whilst simultaneously improving the environment.

Through our on-going support of JUST ONE Tree, we are also committed to offsetting our carbon emissions. One important exercise we recently undertook was to calculate the carbon emissions* for Shoot Blue, which in total was a little under 45 tonnes of CO? per year. Through planting at least 800 trees per year, we hope that we can compensate for both our historical and current carbon emissions, and help leave a better environmental legacy for future generations. And make Shoot Blue a truly carbon neutral rental house.
