The Sennheiser EW-D 835-S Set is a straightforward, digital wireless handheld microphone system designed for capturing clear, reliable speech in production environments. It is well suited to interviews, presenter-led content, live events and situations where a quick, dependable wireless mic is required without unnecessary complexity.

Built around Sennheiser’s e835 cardioid capsule, the system delivers focused, intelligible speech with good rejection of background noise, which is useful on busy locations, event floors or uncontrolled environments.

The system uses digital UHF transmission, providing stable wireless performance and consistent audio quality with low latency and minimal interference. In practice, it behaves predictably, which is generally what is required on set.

Setup is simple. The transmitter and receiver pair quickly, and frequency management is handled efficiently, either directly on the unit or via Sennheiser’s control app if preferred. This makes it suitable for productions where time is limited and the expectation is that things will work first time.

The handheld transmitter includes a mute switch, which is often more useful than it sounds, particularly in live or presenter-led environments. Battery performance is suited to a typical shooting day, and the system is robust enough to withstand regular handling and transport.

In use, the EW-D 835-S is typically deployed as a primary microphone for interviews, presenter-led content or live environments where a handheld mic is appropriate. It works well either as a standalone wireless solution or alongside more complex sound setups, and is often chosen where a lavalier mic is not practical or desirable.

Where a more portable, battery-powered setup is required, the handheld transmitter can also be paired with a Sennheiser EK 100 G4 receiver, allowing it to be used more easily on location without the need for a mains-powered receiver.
